Homemade Naan Bread Recipe

For some cultures around the world, this bread is a staple and is enjoyed will almost every meal. Unlike other kinds of bread such as the we have made before, the process for this one is a little less involved. So let us take a look at how to make homemade naan, shall we?

You only need 4 main ingredients for this recipe, then you get to choose what you want to add for seasoning. Most of the ingredients are readily available in many kitchens, others such as the greek yogurt, you can make that too or use non fat yogurt if you do not have some.

Homemade Naan Recipe

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup greek or non yogurt
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • mixing bowls
  • plastic cling wrap
  • non stick spray or butter
  • rolling pin
  • cutting board
  • aluminum foil
  • cookie sheet
  • frying pan
  • garlic powder (optional)
  • Seasonings for preference

Step By Step Instructions

Step 1

Add all the dry ingredients into your mixing bowl.

Step 2.

Add your yogurt and knead into a dough using your hands.

Step 3.

Place dough in a greased bowl and cover with cling wrap.
Leave it to sit for at least 60 minutes in your fridge.

Step 4.

After an hour pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 5.

Roll out the dough on a floured board with your rolling pin.

Step 6.

Fry both sides of the flattened dough for about 5 minutes.

Step 7

Place on a cookie sheet in the oven for about 2 minutes.

Step 8.

Remove from oven and let it cool before serving.

This recipe will makes about 5 servings. If you have a family to feed like I do you can just go ahead and cook it all at once. Otherwise you can store some portions away in zip loc bags in your freezer.
