Homemade Giant Tomato Fertilizer Recipe

One type of the vegetable that you are most likely to find in any backyard garden are tomatoes. However, what you will not find in most gardens are huge tomatoes. There are many different strategies out there on how to grow giant tomatoes and one of them involves using your own homemade tomato fertilizer recipe. The good thing about this strategy is that the ingredients you need are very affordable and readily available in your home. I am ready to whip this up and try it next summer on my own plants, Shannon and her husband swear by it.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Crushed egg shells
  • Bone meal
  • Epsom salts
  • Crushed aspirin
  • Resealable container
  • Soap

If you have chickens, then you can grab the eggshells from their eggs. They also have to be cleaned and brittle dry before you use them for the recipe. Just mix all the ingredients together well in a container that you can reseal. A quarter cup of the homemade fertilizer is all you will need for each tomato plant. When you plant your tomatoes you start with the fertilizer first before you put the plant in the hole. The hole should be deep and cover as least two thirds of the plant. This will promote the growth of a strong root system, which will also help the plant be more productive.
