Cheeeeeese, smile for the camera. LOL Nope we are actually are actually talking about a different kind of cheese. If you search through previous blog posts you will find homemade coby cheese recipe, homemade ricotta cheese and homemade chevre cheese recipes. Some are more complicated than others, which brings me to this homemade farmer’s cheese recipe.
When it comes to homemade cheese recipes, this is one of the easier ones to make. It is perfect for the beginner cheese maker. Most people tend to shy away from this cheese because it is often too dry and crumbles too much. Others say that the taste is too boring, but that is your chance to liven it up with your own mix of spices and make it into something really special.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
- milk
- apple cider vinegar
- salt
- ground herbs of your choice
- 2 large pots
- cheese cloth or old bandanna
- colander
- something heavy
Pour the milk, which you can use raw or pasteurized into one of the pots and bring it to a boil. The apple cider vinegar should be added as soon as the heat is turned off, and that should initiate the curdling process. A colander lined with cheesecloth over the other large pot are the best tools you can use to separate your whey from the curds.
Then it is time for the seasoning magic to begin before tying up the cheesecloth and weighing it down to further drain the whey out. For my seasoning, I tend to use some mix some of my favorite hot spices with a few sweeter ones. The cheese always tastes different every time and that is part of the fun for me. Also try by all means, not to drain too much whey or it ends up way too dry.
