Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • vegetable or olive oil
  • all purpose flour
  • can crushed tomatoes or fresh tomatoes
  • chili powder
  • dried oregano
  • cumin
  • garlic powder
  • onion powder
  • brown sugar
  • kosher salt
  • fresh ground pepper
  • medium saucepan
  • whisk
  • air tight container

The first step is to heat up your oil and mix in the flour so the two ingredients are well mixed. This should take at the most 60 seconds. After that you can then just stir in all the other ingredients, starting with the tomatoes and then followed by the dry ingredients.

Season with the salt and pepper, before bringing everything to the boil. Lower the heat and let simmer for at least 10 minutes, at the most 15 minutes. Your sauce is ready when it has thickened a little bit, remove from the stove let it cool and you can store it in your fridge in an air tight container for up to 14 days.
