Homemade Antiseptic Ointment

Without a doubt, when you get involved in outdoor work such as gardening or diy projects, at some time you will end up with a cut, abrasion or scrape. This is when this homemade antiseptic ointment become handy.

You can make this in your own kitchen, and you never have to worry about stocking up when you visit the pharmacy next time. This homemade version has the same healing and infection fightingp roperties as the store made versions. You can choose from three different natural oils, to use in your ointment.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • 1 1/2 ounces beeswax, grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon tea tree oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon vitamin E oil
  • 1 cup olive, almond, or coconut oil
  • 20 drops lavender essential oil
  • 10 drops lemon essential oil
  • small pot
  • chopstick or wooden spoon
  • sterile small mason jar or container

Step By Step Instructions

Step 1

Place the small pot on range and melt your beeswax, tea tree oil, vitamin E oil and olive oil over low heat.

Step 2

Using the chopstick or wooden spoon add the remaining oils to the mixture, with the pot away from the heat.

Step 3

Pour the mixture from the previous step into your jar or container, before placing the jar on your kitchen counter and leaving the contents to cool down.

Step 4

Stores in a cool dark place for up to 5 years. (Medicine Cabinet perhaps)

How To Use: Just apply a generous amount to your cut, scrape or abrasion, as needed.

Tea tree oil and lemon both have antibiotic, antiviral, antibacterial and anti-fungal properties. Lavendar has the same properties but also has added analgesic properties which help wih pain relief.

If you are bothered by the scents of lavendar and lemon you can replace these with chamomile and fir essential oils, respectively.
