Easy Homemade Yogurt Recipe

Yogurt is another one of those foods that most people just buy already made. Maybe it’s because you never thought you could actually make it in your home or perhaps you knew you could but thought that you need special equipment.

Well today you will learn that not only can you make yogurt at home, you also do not need any special expensive equipment like the yogurt makers. A large soup pot to mix your main ingredients will do the trick.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • milk
  • a small amount of yogurt with live active cultures
  • dry milk powder
  • a saucepan
  • a thermometer
  • a quart canning jar with screw on lid
  • a heating pad
  • a towel
  • large soup pot.

There is just five steps to this process. The first step involves mixing the milk and milk powder in a pan, stirring the mixture well. This mixture is then transferred into a bowl where you will add the cold milk, before adding the live yogurt culture. Everything ends up in the canning jar, which is covered with a towel and on a heating pad.

The hardest part of this process is having to wait 8 hours for incubation. They recommend you make your yogurt just before bed, so you do not have to endure the long wait.
