DIY Wood Pallet Desk

I was in the mood for a simple diy project to pass the time, and remembered this diy wood pallet desk, that I had bookmarked online. The last project I did that re-used wood pallets was the diy wood pallet hose holder, which turned out to be a lot of fun too.

Why is this a simple project? Well for one it does not require you to dismantle the whole pallet, the main structure is left pretty much intact. Since pallets can often be found for free, this is also a very affordable project. They used Ikea table legs which can be ordered online, but I just pulled some legs off an old desk and used those instead!

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • wood pallets
  • ikea vika legs
  • plywood
  • wood nails & screws
  • hand drill
  • wood floor board
  • wood saw
  • metal saw
  • hammer
  • nail gun
  • tape measure
  • marker

The first thing you have to do is dismantle your pallet, the metal saw is faster and easier. Also if you get plywood and wood floor boards that fit the pallet dimensions, life becomes so much easier as you do not have to bother with measuring or cutting them to fit. Make sure you have all your boards before you begin the assembly process.

Assembly is simple. The plywood is nailed into the bottom boards, whilst the floor boards are screwed into the cross boards. The legs are also screwed into the bottom boards. As an added feature, a secret compartment can be created if your floor boards interlock. This is actually really cool! 🙂
