DIY Wood Floating Shelf

Every now again you see something that you don’t need but you always tell yourself I gotta have that. The last time I remember we made the diy wood pallet planter box and before that was the diy plumbing pipe firewood holder. They both came out good, I am hoping this diy wood floating shelf will do the same.

This is yet another simple project, that actually does not require any tools. As for the materials you could have these already available, for example I will be using a wooden board leftover from one of our other projects. Otherwise, just make a quick trip to the hardware store.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • wood board
  • scissors
  • yarn

Let the yarn cutting begin, it took a few minutes to cut all the required yarn. Then to top it off had to tie the knot somewhere around the middle of the yarn. Then it was time to divide and conquer into 4 equal sections. Each section then needs to be either twisted or braided. I choose twisted, figured it would be a lot quicker.

This shelf already had a hook waiting for it on our porch, so I tied the top part about 4 inches below and then also tied another knot at the bottom. That is all there is to it, all that is left to do is to slip the wooden board so it balances, and then put whatever you like on the shelf.
