Up until now, I have been raising my few quail birds in an old modified chicken coop. However, I feel like it is time for an upgrade, that is why I was looking at this slick diy quail coop design. I think these diy soda bottle quail feeders, will work great in the new digs as well.

I love the design as it allows for expansion, should the need arise in the future. However, the small version of the plans are perfect for the smaller quail birds such as the coturnix. They tend to thrive in a small and structured environment. I can’t wait to have this setup for my birds, I know they will absolutely feel at home in this one.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

• 2×4’s lumber
• 2×3 lumber
• 1×4’s lumber
• pine or cedar fence boards
• wood screws
• saw
• drill
• staple gun
• measuring tape
• hinges
• handles
• locks
• flat metal connectors
• netting or wire
• scissors or wire cutters
• wood stainer (optional)

Then the cutting begins, with all the frame boards. Building the frame should start with the upper and lower rectangle frames. Use the longer screws to attach the frames, make sure you drill pilot holes or you will risk splitting the wood. With the frame is assembled, use the staple gun to attach the wire or mesh from the inside.

Cut the wood for the roof and attach, which has two sections. There is the fixed area and the area with a door that opens. Alternatively, you can use two doors for the roof too. It is also recommended that you stain the wood for added protection. Lay down some hay in the shelter for the birds to use for nesting and also to keep them warm during the cold nights.
