DIY Plastic Bottle Vertical Garden

There are many people who love gardening and just do not have the luxury of space to allow the to do so. We have looked at other small space gardening solutions such as the plastic bottle vertical onion garden . Today I want to share with you another great idea I found which is this diy plastic bottle vertical garden.

This project allows you to make use of a fence for gardening and also repurpose plastic bottles which may have ended up polluting the environment. The 500 ml plastic water bottles work best for smaller spaces if you want to grow more stuff, otherwise you could use bigger soda bottles.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • empty plastic bottles
  • zip ties or wire or string
  • sharp tool or knife
  • potting soil
  • seeds
  • organic fertilizer

Once you have identified your vertical wall or fence, you can prepare your bottles by creating a small hole to attach the wire or you can wrap the wire around the center of the bottle. Fill the bottle with potting soil, sprinnkle a little organic fertilizer and plant your seeds before or after attaching it to the wall, it is totally up to you.

Do not forget to drill a few small holes on the bottom to allow for drainage. I would align the bottles in rows that allow the water from the bottles above to drip into those below, when you are watering your plants. You can grow anything from your herbs, to your lettuces and green onions using this system.
