DIY Magic Faucet Fountain

Truth be told, this is not anything I had any use for on the homestead. Instead I just thought it was really cool, and really worth sharing. It falls in the same category as past projects such as the diy glass bottle vase, diy t-shirt shoelaces and the diy towel beach bag. As much as I always want to be busy with projects that enhance our off grid lifestyle, sometimes I just want to have a little fun and make a diy magic faucet fountain. Sue me! LOL

Just like with magic, when this illusion is exposed, you will most likely let out a little chuckle. This is a simple case of the water, is quicker the eye. Ok, so how long will it take you to set this up? Ummmm, it should not take more than 30 minutes to assemble your fountain. As far as the cost goes, the fountain pump will take up a huge chunk of the total budget. All the other other materials are affordable and easily available at your local hardware store.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • waterproof container or small bucket
  • small fountain pump
  • drill circle saw drill attachment
  • epoxy putty
  • super strength glue
  • clear plastic tube
  • small faucet
  • river rocks
  • water
  • marker (optional)

Step By Step Instructions

Step 1.

Drill a hole about an inch or so from the bottom of your
container, and then enlarge it with the circular saw attachment.

Step 2.

Place your fountain pump inside the bucket, and then
pass the electrical power cord through the hole.

Step 3.

Use the epoxy putty, to seal the hole around the cord
applying it both inside and outside the container.

Step 4.

Glue the clear plastic tube to the inside of the faucet
mouth and leave to dry for a few hours at least.

Step 5.

When dry, insert the other end of the clear plastic
pipe into your pumps water outlet.

Step 6.

Arrange river rocks around the pump, making sure
that is well hidden from under the rocks.

Step 7.

Add water to the bucket, plug in & turn on the pump.

Voila! It should look like the faucet is suspended in mid air, with water just flowing from it with no hose or pipes. I like that even, if you pass your hand near the tube, there is still some water dripping there. You know people are going to want to pass their hand under the side where the faucet is supposed to be connected to plumbing, just to make sure there is nothing there. This is a super cool illusion, try it. 🙂
