DIY Egg Carton Seed Starter

Most people use the black plastic trays for seed starting, however if you are planting a lot of seeds those may cost you an arm and a leg. Here’s a cool idea you can try instead.

How about using cardboard egg cartons to start your seeds in. You can just cut out each section and plant the seedlings when they are ready to be transferred to your garden.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Egg Cartons
  • Potting Soil
  • Seed Starting Medium
  • Stapler
  • Box Cutter Or Knife
  • Seedlings

The first step will involve you creating a flap on the top of the carton. The actual lid that comes with the carton, has to be stapled down. This will allow you to fill it up with potting soil and seed starting medium.

Plant one seed per cell, water and close the flap so you can keep it moist in there for the seeds to germinate.
