DIY Cinder Block Raised Garden Beds

There are many different materials that can be used to build your raised garden beds. Most people just use lumber, mainly because it is easy to use for this purpose. However, if you want a more durable solution that is resistant to weather and termite infestation, then you may want to consider these DIY Cinder Block Raised Garden Beds.

Although these are easy to build, I think it is wise to have a little experience with using blocks and mortar. I know the hubby has built a few structures around the homestead, so this little project should not be too difficult for him (Nothing ever is! lol)

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • cinder blocks
  • peat moss
  • composted manure
  • sand
  • buiding tools
  • level
  • shovel
  • weatherproof construction adhesive for concrete
  • mortar

Locate an area in your garden, where you would like your raised garden beds to be located. They say that every strong structure needs a good foundation, so we are actually going to dig a foundation to lay our first layer of blocks. This layer is then leveled out and weatherproof construction adhesive for concrete is applied to keep everything intact.

With the foundation set, you can add more layers until you reach your desired level. Your peat moss and manure will go into the belly of garden bed, once the outer wall has been built. We will be growing some kale in ours this year, it should love their new home! 🙂
