DIY Chicken Wire Potato Tower

It amazing how many different places you can successfully grow your potatoes. Just the other day I heard about the diy chicken wire potato tower method.

They actually recommend you grow your potatoes in towers as they are small spaces which do not allow the plants to sprawl. They can only grow upwards, giving more space for tubers to form.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • chicken wire mesh
  • seed potatoes
  • compost
  • hay

Start by building your chicken wire tower, before you can lay down your first layer of compost. The outer walls of the tower will be lined with hay, after you have placed your potatoes in the bottom of the tower.

Keep the tower well watered and the potatoes always covered as they continue growing upwards during the summer. You cover them with a mixture of hay and compost.
