DIY Chicken Nipple Waterer

If you have ever tried using an open chicken waterer for your chickens you know how dirty the water can be. I think I found an affordable solution to this pesky problem, this diy nipple chicken waterer.

This is definetely one of the easier plans, I have looked at some more complicated ones that still do the job at hand which is to provide readily available clean water for your chickens.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • empty plastic container with lid
  • nipples
  • hand drill
  • water
  • metal hook or wire
  • marker (optional)

Make sure you clean your container before you put any water for your chickens in there. All you have to do is drill a few starter holes in the bottom of the container. If you have time you can actually use a marker to mark the spots you want your holes to be before drilling.

You then insert the nipples into the holes and screw them on tight. Put some clean water in the container and hang it in your coop at a height that your chickens can easily reach. The first few days you will have to train them how to reach for the nipple and get some water. They look so cute when they activate the nipples to drink water.
