DIY Chicken Coop Sun Deck

As the summer comes to an end, you can’t help but to think of the cold winter months approaching. The funny thing is that your chickens are thinking the same thing, that is why Tanya decided to build them this diy chicken coop sun deck.

It helps keep them off the cold ground and also brings them closer to the sun. Total cost of this project was only about $10 dollars.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • lumber or plywood
  • wood screws or nails
  • hammer or hand drill
  • hacksaw or circular saw

The actual building process is pretty simple too. You start with the triangle frame, which you attach to one corner of the coop, preferably the one that gets the most sun. Boards are laid on top of the frame to create a platform.

The ramp looks a bit more labor intensive, however it is necessary to have the little traction pieces of wood so the chickens, can easily walk up the ramp. The project took Tanya’s hubby one whole afternoon to complete.
