DIY Cedar Ladder Planter

This is yet another great diy project for those of us who do not have too much space for gardening. Even if you have a lot of backyard space for gardening you can probably still build this diy cedar ladder planter.

The planter allows you to garden vertically. You can grow herbs or flowers in it or even mix it up and grow both. Why not experiment with different plants, and figure out what works best for you. Total project cost is only $20.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • cedar fence pickets
  • decking screws
  • galvanized nails or staples
  • staple gun
  • compound miter saw
  • jigsaw
  • measuring tape
  • square
  • pencil
  • safety glasses
  • drill

The first thing you do after laying out all your materials and tools is cut out your cuts. The compound miter saw is perfect for doing this. Once you have your cuts you can attach them using the staple gun, before going on to create the actual frame.

When attaching the boxes it is easier to start from the top and work your way down. Don’t forget to drill some holes in the bottom of each box to allow for drainage. This vertical planter will look great in any small backyard or patio and it is not only cheap to build but will only take a few hours to build also.
