DIY Bicycle Wheel Clothesline

It has been a while since we have done a re-purposing project, especially one with bicycle parts. I think the last one was the diy bicycle tire trellis. Anywho, today we end that long stretch with this diy bicycle wheel clothesline project.

When you look at the pictures, it looks way more complicated than it actually is. If you have an old bicycle wheel lying around, you pretty much have everything you need. It is easy to build and looks pretty cool. Perfect for drying the smaller items on like underwear, kitchen cloths etc.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • old bicycle wheel
  • galvanized pipe
  • fittings
  • heavyweight patio umbrella (optional)

If you wheel is a bit rusted up, you may want to clean it up and remove the rust. You don’t want the rust ruining your clothes etc. Then all you have to do is screw on the fittings, attach the fittings to the wheel before screwing on the galvanized pipe.

You can either use the suggested heavyweight patio or some other sort of base (concrete perhaps) to hold the pipe in place. We have this concrete block that worked just fine. Now all you have to do is take it for a test run and hang some items on it.
