DIY Beer Bottle Plant Waterer

I have to admit although I love gardening, I tend to not give my house plants as much time and effort as I do my vegetables in my garden. This is why something like this diy old beer bottle watering globe peaked my interest. In the past I learnt how to do the same using empty wine bottles.

There are a couple of empty beer bottle lying around in a box in the back shed. These re-purposing projects always make me smile, nothing beats going green or being environmentally friendly.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • old empty beer bottles
  • detergent
  • small indoor potted plants
  • water

Step By Step Instructions

Step 1

Grab an empty beer bottle and clean it out using water and detergent. You can remove the label if you wish but that is not really necessary.

Step 2

Fill your bottle up with water.

Step 3

Flip it over and shove it into the dirt of your potted plant.

How Does It Work? When you insert the water filled bottle into the dirt it will release water slowly, keeping your plant watered. When the water runs out you will have to refill the bottle and re-insert it into the dirt.

You can use this method to water your plants when you are go away for a week or so. The small beer bottles are perfect for the smaller plants, bigger bottles like wine bottles can be used for the bigger plants.
