Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • 18 gal plastic bins
  • hand drill
  • kitchen scraps
  • shredded paper
  • dry leaves
  • a scoop of soil

Composts require oxygen in order to activate the aerobic bacteria that do all the hard work. This is why you will need to drill holes on the bottom, top and the sides of the plastic bin.

Materials that can be added to your compost include apple peels, lettuce, potato peels, for greens. Leaves, shredded paper, wood chips, bark and soil from your garden. Allow 4 to 5 weeks in warm temperatures, for a fresh compost.
