The good thing about raising your own chickens, is that when it is time to make a chicken dinner recipe, you have all natural organic chicken available. We feed our chickens this homemade organic chicken feed daily and they love it. Anywho, today I made this chicken cordon bleu casserole recipe for dinner.

Casseroles especially this one are my favorite go to recipes, when I need to whip a quick meal. If you are already familiar with the traditional recipe, this one is the casserole version. You may even end up choosing this one over the other, as most people find it way easier to prepare. Altogether including 15 minutes of prep, you will need about 60 minutes cooking time.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • chicken breasts
  • milk
  • egg
  • salt and pepper
  • bread crumbs
  • ham
  • Swiss cheese
  • cream of chicken soup
  • milk
  • baking pan
  • non stick spray
  • large bowl
  • whisk
  • large plate or shallow bowl
  • slotted spoon
  • aluminum foil

Before you begin preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and prep your baking pan with a layer on non stick spray. Then we can move on to whisking the egg and milk together and using it as a coating for the chicken cubes. The bread crumbs are seasoned with the salt and pepper on a large plate.

Coat your chicken with the bread crumbs, and then transfer to the bottom of the baking pan. Add a layer of ham followed by the cheese. Whip the chicken soup and milk together, then pour it over the contents of the baking dish. Cover with foil and leave to bake for at least 35 minutes.

At which time it will be ok, to remove the foil before baking for an additional 10 minutes. Remove from oven and let it cool for 5 minutes before serving. My family loves it served with rice, however feel free to experiment with many different options.
