Canning Pineapple Jam Recipe

Raise your hand, if you have never heard of this type of jam before. If this was a few years back, I would have also raised my hand with you. Now I know how to grow pineapple in water and also got educated on the art of canning pineapple. I think the best thing I’ve learnt in the pineapple world is how to make this homemade pineapple jam.

You will need to pull out your water bath canner for canning your jam after you have made it. The recipe only calls for 3 other ingredients besides the pineapples. I know in many grocery stores they now sell peeled and cored pineapples. This is a time saver, as this task can be very time consuming and annoying.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • finely chopped pineapple
  • white sugar
  • lemon pulp and juice
  • water
  • canning jars with lids
  • ladle
  • large saucepan
  • water bath canner
  • kitchen towel
  • jar lifter

After you have chopped up your pineapples, it would be a good time to prepare your canning jars, lids and rings before you begin making your jam. When you are ready to start, just mix everything in the large saucepan and bring to boil whilst stirring to help the sugar dissolve.

Keep on stirring until the jam thickens, into a gel like consistency. At which point you can remove from the heat and skim away any foam that may have formed. Ladle into your jars, leaving at least half an inch of headspace. Screw on the lids and process in your water bath canner for just 15 minutes. Lift your jars from the canner and leave on your kitchen table or counter to seal and cool, preferably overnight.
