Canning Pickled Jalepenos

Have you ever tried to pickle anything in your home kitchen before? Well this was my first time trying this canning pickled jalapeno recipe and boy did we have a lot of fun with it.

This recipe called for my water bath canner it was nice to use this again as it had been a while since I had used it. I was surprised at how easy the whole pickling and canning process turned out to be.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • water
  • vinegar
  • pickling salt
  • garlic
  • dill seed
  • jalapenos
  • canning jars
  • water bath canner
  • jar lifter or tongs
  • large stock pot

Before you begin make sure that your jalapenos are washed and clean. Your canning jars should also be sterilized. Whilst you prepare the pickling brine, you can thinly slice your jalapenos. so that as soon as the brine is ready you can begin canning.

Usually you pack your jars up 1/2 an inch from the top however this recipe suggests 1/4 inch from the top. The packed jars a processed in the water bath canner for 12 minutes. Check each one for the seal before removing from the water. You can store the unopened jars for up to 2 years, but enjoy as soon as you open the jar.
