Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • dry garden soil
  • mason jar
  • dish soap
  • shovel
  • vinegar
  • baking soda
  • teaspoon
  • paper towel

There are 3 soil tests that you can do. The jar test will tell you what type of soil you have in your garden. The best type of soil to have is one that has equal parts sand and silt with a thin layer of clay and some organic stuff floating on top.

The earthworm test will help you determine how your soil is doing. The PH test tells you whether your soil is acidic or alkaline. Vinegar is used to test for alkaline soil and baking soda for acidic soil.
